Ease of arrival/welcome

Beware of what you enter in Sat Nav.

It is 11 years since we were on this CL and I have to admit some of the reviews nearly put me off. Yes there have been changes and the images used here is no longer representative of the area. It is half the size now and a fence down the right size covering a storage area for mobile homes and caravans. There are however other options other than this field , especially if you are just an over night stay and want an early get a way. We had a call from friends as we were making our way south to ask where we were booked into. They were also going to be in the area for a tunnel crossing. When we arrived their mobile home was in the court yard next to the wedding venue and good toilet facilities. Also electric points. We were met by the owner a lady who advised ( as we had heard ) there may be. a lorry moving during the night so suggested we also park next to our friend as less likely to be disturbed. We always used to stay on a small grassed area opposite the court yard which she said we could be more likely to hear the lorry there. As it happened I was awake around 2pm when for a few seconds I heard a large vehicle leaving the site. It certainly would not have woke me up and even then did not disturb me. ( Others may have had a worse experience. ) The one thing I want to make clear is that if you use a Sat nav DO NOT enter Satmar Lane as you destination. Satmar lane was divided by the A20 many years ago and there are various options for that now , a couple of dead ends and also unsuitable for large vehicles. We thought we knew where we should go but like fools near the end followed the Sat Nav. Use Capel Street as your destination and follow that down and through a residential area that is quite a narrow road , it also has a primary school so avoid the school run. Parking on both sides of the road at times so at busy times there is a bit of pulling over and waiting. Continue along til you cross over a bridge over the A20 and then right into the correct part of Satmar Lane. Also a dead end but the Capel Farm is before you reach that. There is also a toilet and shower up at the main CL field and Chemical toilet. £15 per night and yes I would use again if crossing the channel again.
