A typical farm CL, everything you need without frills. Will stay again.
Great base for exploring along the Flitch Way. Red kite, buzzard, kestrel and green woodpecker sightings.
Beautiful cycling through woodland at Bacon End with countless deer roaming free.
Yet another nice CL
Just returned from a 3 night stay at Bury Farm .
Enjoyed our stay in our Motorhome .
Explored the area on our E bikes stumbled upon some lovely villages and countryside.
Found everything on site .
Left our pitch fees in the letterbox by information hut .
Would return .
Very welcoming CL
We stayed here twice in September - once at the start of our holiday and the second time when heading home - when we had the CL to ourselves. We arrived and set up near the fence line as the sun was already casting shadows over the hedges. Fortunately our cable was long enough. Later in the afternoon Jonathon, the owner, and his little dog Betsy walked over the fields and welcomed us. He could see we were busy setting up so left us to our own devices, but made a point of coming over to chat with us the next day. He did the same on our second visit. He was very relaxed about the method of payment and happy for us to put the cash in an envelope and post in the box in his information shelter. The CL is a great place to access the Flitch Way cycle path (though the Braintree direction from Dunmow isn't well signposted and not well maintained in parts, so we ended up ditching the idea of cycling all the way to the end). The National Cycle Network can also be accessed from the end of the farm road. We cycled everywhere - Finchingfield, Thaxted, two thirds of the Flitch Way, Felsted, and Hatfield Forest and we had the cycle path round Stansted airport to ourselves. As motorhomers we rely on our bikes for getting around, so this CL was ideal for us. We have never stayed over in Essex before so we were very pleasantly surprised - lovely little villages and beautiful cottages. The highlight of the CL for us was the visit of a red kite on the first afternoon of our second stay. It was circling over the adjoining field and at one stage circled over our motorhome. Lovely to see. Word of warning - make sure you don't run out of provisions - local shops are few and far between. Reading a previous review that Great Dunmow has a 24 hour Tesco the reviewer couldn't understand why - well I think it is possibly due to the lack of village stores. We needed milk and returning from a bike ride asked a lady we passed where the nearest shop was - the Rodings was her reply - about 5 miles away. It wasn't until we reached Leaden Roding that we found the local convenience store. Don't rely on the sat nav either to get you to the CL - it may well take you into the picturesque hamlet of Church End (like ours did)!
If you are looking for peace & tranquility….
A beautiful place to stop especially if you want peace & quiet with lovely walks & an abundance of nature…
Beautiful CL
This CL is such as lovely peaceful site in surrounding countryside with wild life such as deer in the fields.
The owners are friendly, helpful nothing is too much trouble and very genuine people.
You can really relax at the site and unwind and enjoy the peace visit historic Great Dunmow, Finchingfield one of the most picturesque villages in the Essex also the old town Saffron Walden where ever you chose there is plenty to see and do.
We will defiantly be back to visit in the summer.
Thank you
A rural gem.
We love this place so much. Well off the beaten track and peace and quiet in abundance. Good for wildlife, we have seen Barn Owl and Little Owl recently along with all the other song birds etc. Nice little village at High Roding with excellent tea room and a real ale pub that serves decent food. Only nag is.. approach road is very narrow, and in summertime the foliage is overhanging somewhat and marks the side of the van, that results in lots of work getting the marks off and slight scratches out. Go slow and take your time on the approach road (farm track).
Peaceful haven but well hidden.
As described by others this is a lovely peaceful site deep in countryside. It is, however, not very well signed and we managed to drive by. The lanes are narrow and the reversing to turn around quite difficult. One kind farmer allowed us to pull into his yard.
Once the entrance off the road is found then the farm track is smooth but very narrow indeed. It is about a mile long. Once at the farm buildings there was no signage so one of us got out and peered around the farm buildings to find the entrance to the site. This is turn right through the farm yard and round to the left.
It did not spoil our stay but would be nice of signs were clearer.
A Rural Have
This is a quiet (despite Stansted Airport traffic) and delightfully remote site in rural Essex. The field is flat, so very easy for either caravan or motorhome, and the village historic (Mott and Bailey from Norman Castle, ancient churches, etc). Easy access to Gt Dunmow, Chelmsford, and other places you may or may not want to visit, but also to Audley End, Saffron Walden, Finchingfield, which you almost certainly do. Gt Dunmow, to my astonishment, has a 24-hr Tesco, I am sure somebody knows why. The welcome is warm, and I can say no more than I shall certainly go back again.

A warm welcome.
A very nice CL in rural surroundings. Jonathan, the owner, was very welcoming and helped us by lending us an aerial cable for the TV as we had forgotten ours.
We will certainly use this site again if we are in the area.
Relaxing CL
Lovely new CL, well laid out and great location. It's a very peaceful site with views over the fields. The water tape is in a large open front shed which also have good location information of the area. Access to the site is good, so no worries on size of your caravans trying to get in, lots of space. The owner is very friendly and welcoming (Jonathan ) came over a had a chat. We will defiantly be coming back more. Geoff & Mike
