Stayed at Brookside for 3 nights. Very well maintained site with grass beautifully mown and picked up but with lovely areas left to meadow between the large pitches and in front with mown walkway all the way round and 3 picnic benches on a mown area, little stream at the bottom. Lovely walk into Clearwell up a track opposite the site. Short stroll into Newland, very prettty village with pub. Use of electric metre card worked fine, we used about £7.50 for 3 nights. Helpful, unobtrusive owners. Only had a drink at the Butchers Arms in Clearwell but looked a nice pub, closed Wednesday and Thursday ! Some very good walks from the site. We will definitely return
Peace and tranquillity
This was our second visit to this beautiful and secluded CL set in the north of the Forest of Dean. The village of Newland in which this site is located has at its heart a wonderful Church which is known as the Cathedral of The Forest and well is worth a visit. The Ostrich pub located opposite the church is a classic old village pub which serves good food and beer.
The site set in a small valley has generous pitches set in a field of wild flowers with intricately mown pathways through the beautiful meadow leading you to the picnic area and babbling brook. The owners are helpful and friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. Would recommend for a restful and peaceful break in a stunning location.
