This is one of our favourite CL's, fantastic views, tranquil, kids loved taking our dog up on the hill. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Pitches are nice.
Excellent CL
Have just returned home having spent 16 nights on this lovely quiet site. The reception is well stocked with information on local attractions and events. There are also a large range of laminated walking routes that can be borrowed. There is a great dog walk which leads to a bird hide and a permissive path beyond linking to other footpaths. It is a working farm but the caravanners are quite undisturbed and the site is beautifully maintained
Ideal CL – for us
Date of visit – Early July for 8 nights
Access – As has been mentioned in a previous review the last 4 miles into the site are on typical country lanes, but visibility is mostly good so if you take your time & look ahead you should have no problems, we were able to pass several cars without any drama. The driveway down to the farm is single track, approx. ½ mile, but again visibility is good.
Welcome – The owner, Anne, is very welcoming and has excellent knowledge of the local area. It is a working farm and so Anne can be very busy so you may not see much of her around the site itself but is easily contacted if you need her.
Pitches – Six gravel hardstandings, fairly level, with grass in-between. The hardstanding is wide enough for a car and caravan but if you pitch an awning you will probably encroach on to the grass, the alternative would be to park the car across the front of the pitch. There is a water point and EHU bollard situated between every 2 pitches. The combined Elsan and grey waste disposal point plus the recycling and general rubbish pen are within easy reach of the pitches.
General – The site itself is set in a little depression but the view from the caravan window is pleasant enough, there is a dog walk on site that leads to a bird hide, but more importantly, for us, on to miles and miles of marked walks with absolutely stunning views. Some may feel this site is quite isolated as the nearest “civilisation” … Pubs, shops ect. are 4 miles away, this area is over shadowed by its more famous neighbours, the lake district and Yorkshire dales, but if you are looking for peace, tranquillity and outstanding natural beauty the this is the site for you. We will definitely be returning.
Beautiful Surroundings
Just arrived back from this site. A very warm welcome from the owners. Gravel Pitches, with plenty of space in between. It is an ideal spot for Bird Watching, they even have a Bird Hide two minutes walk from your pitch. It is adjacent to a working farm. It is immaculate, also plenty of walks. There is a very well informed reception with route maps for you to borrow and enjoy a walk. Will be going back again shortly.
great place for walking
Just returned from 2 nights away at Broadagte farm. we arrived in the dark so there was notice was on the reception door telling us what pitch to go to.
Woke up the morning, the kids both really excited to see the woods just the job for a good walk out, there are plenty of routes to take and the owners gave us easy to read route maps.
The place is really peaceful which suits us just fine, would we come back? defo!
Broadgate farm.
Small hard standing pitches. Not really space for an awning.
Four miles of twisting country lane.
