Ease of arrival/welcome

Beautiful CL Site, shame about the customer service!

We arrived on site to find the farmer who owns the site cutting the grass, he simply could not have been more helpful. The site is well kept, with fully serviced pitches and beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Its about 10 miles from Alnwick, so a little isolated, but well located for visiting the surrounding area. We were staying for 7 nights, and had been asked to pay 50% up front when booking, so were a little surprised when the daughter in law of the owner turned up on our first night expecting the outstanding balance, we didnt see her or speak to her again. A complete contrast to the welcome we received on arrival and a little disapointing in comparison to other CL sites we have visited. The day before we were due to leave, a family of 5 arrived with a large boisterous dog. From the minute the arrived until we left the next day, the dog was allowed to roam free around the site. In my opinion, all dogs, large or small should be kept on a lead at all times, not everyone is comfortable around dogs.

I’ve used many sites that take deposits - CLs, privately owned, commercial, C&CC, CAMC affiliated sites, even CAMC back in the day. Without fail, they all take the balance of payment on arrival. Why were you shocked when the lady came asking for payment? I would have offered it to the farmer on arrival.

As for the dog, presumably that’s what the site owner permits but there was nothing to stop you asking the other party to keep it away from your pitch.

We also would pay on arrival, even if this was not requested, why wouldn't you. Although CAMC do not ask for a deposit, which incidently I personally do not agree with, you do have to pay the full balance on arrival.
