We arrived on Sunday 11/08 to heavy rain. However the ground seemed to hold the deluge well. We pitched on 1 of the 4 hard standings on site the other being a grass pitch. There are good views from the site, but there is an electricity pylon next to the CL, although it did not affect our enjoyment. We stayed for 5 nights. The hard standing was large enough for the caravan and a porch air awning with room to spare on either side. Unlike the previous reviewer we could not get a TV signal, again not a issue to us. We did not meet Cameron & Jess until Monday and they were very pleasant couple. It was good value for a pitch with water, waste & electrics.
Access to the CL was about 1 mile from the A697. The surrounding area is good for cycling/walking. Across the river Breamish there is a village called Branton. There is a B&B called Bosk which is also a cafe (10:30 - 16:00), the food we purchased here was excellent. However it is closed on Tuesday & Wednesday. There is also a small cafe in Ingram and Powburn both within walking, or cycling distance. We also visited Wooler on a couple of occasions which is a very nice small town. This was our first time staying in this area and the CL is definitely a good location for visiting Northumberland’s attractions. To me the basis of a good site is would you go back and I will definitely be back, as long as Cameron and Jess do something about the weather!
Perfect location for exploring Northumberlad
We stayed for 5 nights in early August and really enjoyed our stay at Brandon Ford. Nice hard standing with loads of space either side for car / awning and the site located in a lovely picturesque setting in the Breamish Valley. Having electric, water and drainage on each pitch is real bonus.
Jess and Wilma pops round to your van sometime after you arrive with a friendly welcome and collects payment, this was really convenient for us as it was pouring with rain on the day we left so we didn’t get soaked doing the usual search for the owner to pay.
Although the pitches are hard standing the grass field held a bit of surface water after a couple of days of prolonged heavy rain so motorhomes would need to be careful moving in and out of the site.
The Route 68 national cycling trail passes directly past the site and along this The Ingram cafe is a must to visit. Only a couple of miles from the site it has lovely home made food and houses an interesting little visitor centre explaining the history of the area. Holy Island is only 45 mins drive well worth a visit and the icing on the cake for us was Cragside National Trust property at Rothbury , only 30 minutes away and easily a full day visit, 1000 acres of sculpted grounds and one of the most interesting NT properties we’ve been to.
There’s so much to do in this area we could go on for ever but Brandon Ford is definitely the site to base yourself for your visit to Northumberland.
Good mobile and TV signal.
Lovely stay
We arrived in glorious sunshine with beautiful views. I was thinking I may not have a mobile signal as it went off in the Village. However all was great and we had a thoroughly good time at this peaceful site. Is very well kept and handy for the river and walks to the nature reserve. The pitches are serviced which is fantastic and the bin area and chemical disposal were very clean areas. The garage shop Londis is not too far away and stocks everything. The owners were very friendly and camp in our third day for full payment which wasn’t a problem. The pitches are on the small side of you have an awning up. We would definitely return to this site.

Beautiful CL Site, shame about the customer service!
We arrived on site to find the farmer who owns the site cutting the grass, he simply could not have been more helpful. The site is well kept, with fully serviced pitches and beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Its about 10 miles from Alnwick, so a little isolated, but well located for visiting the surrounding area.
We were staying for 7 nights, and had been asked to pay 50% up front when booking, so were a little surprised when the daughter in law of the owner turned up on our first night expecting the outstanding balance, we didnt see her or speak to her again. A complete contrast to the welcome we received on arrival and a little disapointing in comparison to other CL sites we have visited.
The day before we were due to leave, a family of 5 arrived with a large boisterous dog. From the minute the arrived until we left the next day, the dog was allowed to roam free around the site. In my opinion, all dogs, large or small should be kept on a lead at all times, not everyone is comfortable around dogs.
Great find
This CL is set in a great area for walking. Flat fully serviced hard standing pitches...what more could you ask for....quiet & within easy reach of many places to visit.
Well kept.
Set in the Breamish Valley there are cycle routes & walks from the site.
A walk to the garage is convenient for supplies.. well stocked.
Would definitely return when in the area...so hopefully wont be too busy as it's a little gem.

Great addition to the CL network
Set in a superb location, a minute's walk to the river Breamish and three minutes walk to a Nature reserve, with Alnwick and Cragside less than fifteen miles away and the coast at Alnmouth and Bamburgh half an hour, this is the perfect setting. There are good views on all sides. The Cl has flat, well cut grass and there are four serviced hard standing pitches. The rubbish bin area with the chemical toilet disposal are kept clean. Jess comes to call as soon as she is aware you have arrived. It is very peaceful with only the sound of bird song.
Only downside for some may be that there are no pubs, shops or bus stops within easy walking. Heaven!
Excellent
New immaculate well laid out site in a lovely part of Northumberland. Good access, lawned grass, and facilities to each pitch. Branton Lake Nature Reserve is just across the river and there is good walking either direct from the site or further into the Breamish Valley. Friendly owner. Will definitely return.

Northumberland visit
This was our first visit to Northumberland and pleasantly surprised by how nice the area is.
The CL is situated in a lovely setting easily found just off the road which has little traffic.
Spacious feel to the site with services to each pitch.my partner met the owners who were pleasant and friendly.we did the walk up the road to the village run cafe which took about half an hour and treated ourselves to a tea and cake. The following day we cycled over to wooler which is a good ride on the back roads and tracks but needs to be done on a mountain bike my road bike only just coped with the large gravel parts but nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed it (watch out for the goose guarding the bridge over one of the fords).
There are no pubs or shops within walking distance which is ok for us but may bother others.
It’s certainly a place we will frequent next time we are in the area.
