First of all, with the current cost of staying on Club's sites,it is really good to know that gems like this are still around. This is a basic site with no electric hook ups and toilets,so being self contained is a must.
The CL with plenty of room to space out is set on the River Medway, but sheltered by trees, the grass was kept well mowed, with no loose cuttings.
You can walk a couple of miles in each direction along the canal path, with pub stops for refreshments.
Through a gate,in the far corner there is another field, which used to be used for rallies, and a railway line runs opposite, but because it is a slow line I did not find it intrusive.
One downside is,is it a long way for fresh water, and the chemical toilet emptying point is up a flight of stairs,so it is advisable to arrive with some water on board.

Great CL site, with plenty of room to pitch.
Stayed two nights, only £8 a night.
Good walks along the river Medway.
Easy access to Maidstone and beyond, as the railway station is right at the site entrance. Pubs and restaurants also by the site entrance.
Toilets, Elsan point and water at the entrance, though the campsite is a fair way down from the entrance, you need to get water before going to your pitch.
Only downside is dog walkers walking through the site.
Would definitely return.
A little gem and very reasonably priced
Just returned to our first trip here and we will definitely be staying again.
We, with our friends we’re the only 2 units there for the first night with one other camper staying the second night. Aside from a large Motorhome tucked away in one corner which looks like it may be permanent as the occupied came and went a couple of times. It’s a big field with the river one side and train track the other. The trains are around once per hour and didn’t bother us at all. The train station is at the entrance to the marina so really handy if you wanted to go into Maidstone or further afield.
The site is well maintained and the grass short. We were really lucky with very sunny, warm weather. Secure site with access only via the code to the lock to open the gate.
We decided to cycle along the river path which wasn’t the best idea as it was very narrow, with lots of stinging nettles in parts so should have walked it instead which would have been really nice. We bought some cakes from the little bakery van just opposite the site entrance and they were very yummy indeed!
We had dinner at The Railway pub just over the road from the train station. The food was good and exceeded our expectations.
The only small negative here, as others have said, is the long walk to the chemical toilet emptying point, rubbish disposal and water point. Too far to carry a heavy, full toilet cassette. That said, we only stayed 2 nights so managed to wait until we drove past them on the way home to empty.
Absolutely Fabulous
We love this site. It is our go to when we are visiting family in the locality.
We get an amazing welcome, info on walks and anything happening locally. The site is very peaceful and we have met some lovely people who have stayed there. Would highly recommend this site and will continue to use the site when we are in the area.

Stayed here for 3 nights in April 2021. Friendly welcome from the owner. Very large field which is a short drive from the water tap & chemical waste disposal. Peaceful site which overlooks the river with nice walks. Highly recomended.

Little Gem.
This site is just how caravaning should be. Lovely big field, peaceful and tranquil. Walks in either direction along the canal are scenic and within a few miles you end up at a pub. This is our new favourite site and we can't wait to return. It's worth saying the water is a long way from the field (we drove to it), but other than that the site is perfect.

Tales of the riverbank
What a lovely site - large, level, grassy field, adjacent to the beautiful River Medway. Fantastic walks in either direction. Perfect!
