The description refers to welcoming well behaved dogs and not troubling other campers with your dog. Sadly the owners do not subscribe to the behaviour they demand of the visitors. They have a brown and white border collie like dog. He attacked our pup whilst the pup was tied to the fence. We’re grateful our pup has a very heavy coat else the damage would have been serious. Their dog meant we were confined to the inside and fearful of going for a walk. No way to enjoy a site. It didn’t take much thought to tidy up and go, despite having paid in advance. Yes the setting is good but not that good you would want to risk your dog’s well being.
WORTH THE WAIT....
Having had to reschedule our visit twice due to unforeseen circumstances we were really looking forward to our break & oh my was it well worth waiting for.
Penny & her dog are very welcoming. There are paddocks with horses adjacent to the pitches which gives a beautiful view.
The site is very well planned, with hard standing pitches separated by grass areas with picnic tables for each plot. The pitches also have the advantage of being west facing & it's lovely to catch the sun rising & setting over the site. Amenities are easily accessed with fresh water tap adjacent to the pitches and a chemical disposal point near the stables.
There is a stile on site that leads you to the heath & surrounding woods, with loads of walks and wild ponies grazing.
Penny told us of a lovely 'lily pond' to be found beyond the woods but sadly we didn't get to see it due to a rainfall ... maybe next time as there certainly will be! All in all we would highly recommend this site.
A great CL
Lovely warm welcome from Penny and her dog , site is immaculate and the pitches are big and spaced out from other caravans and a wooden picnic table to each caravan , there are horses in the paddock who are friendly and lovely to watch
, there is an information shed with places to visit and fresh eggs , a great bonus is the stile on site that leads you to the heath with loads of walks and wild ponies who often put there heads over the stile . This CL is in a good location for visiting Holt , Cromer , Sheringham , Aylsham and Norwich . This is a fantastic site and is full most of the time so we have booked twice for next year .
Beautiful setting
Easy to find, and access roads good. Adjacent to heathland and woods: lovely for dog walking, either short or long. The dog was in heaven chasing rabbits on the heath before bed each evening! Beautiful horses to watch from the caravan, and lovely sunsets. Pleanty to do in the area, if you do feel the need to jump in the the car. Will be visiting again as soon as we can.
Wonderful Heathland CL
Our second visit to Botany Bay Farm. Once again we enjoyed wonderful heathland walks directly from the site and spent time enjoying coastal walks on several local beaches, with the site providing good, spacious, hardstanding pitches which, in good weather, benefit from afternoon and evening sun and sunsets over the heath.
A lovely introduction to CL Caravanning
Having had to cancel a trip to a different area due to Covid, we were pleased to have found a vacancy at Botany Bay Farm CL. New for 2020, west facing hard standings caught the afternoon sun, and with new electric hook up facility and delightful walks around Marsham Heath directly from the site, we had an enjoyable few days. The Heathland and forest were lovely with autumn colours lots of colourful fungi. The horses on the farm also kept us entertained! Booking was very easy via email with speedy response and payment via bank transfer so contact free on arrival.
A lovely peaceful site, with direct access to Cawston Heath for great walks.
Very welcoming arrival at this new CL. Peaceful, and well laid out with west facing hardstandings and adjacent grass areas with picnic tables, perfect for enjoying our “sundowners” in a lovely location with direct access to Cawston Heath for wonderful walks with our dog. Ideal for a safe holiday using your own onboard facilities in these strange times.
Easy to find, clearly signed, with good access for Motorhomes and Caravans alike, situated behind the equestrian facilities to the rear of the farm house, and well away from the quiet country road, so a peaceful nights sleep is assured.
Fresh water tap adjacent to the pitches and a chemical disposal point near the stables.
Pitching of awnings will be no problem as the grass area next to each hard standing is firm and well drained.
Convenient for Blickling House (NT), Cromer and north Norfolk coast. The Bure Valley railway runs from nearby Aylsham and the Weavers Way LDP can be accessed on foot about a mile north using local paths.
A technical problem with the EHU’s had occurred before we arrived (we were advised of this before arrival) and we were offered an extension lead for use if required...but we have a solar panel, so not an issue.
Highly recommended.
Great new CL for North Norfolk
We live in Norfolk and know the area so were delighted to find a new CL which gives direct access to Cawston Heath and Marsham Heath where there are miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore. The site itself is tucked away behind the farm house beyond horse paddocks, but there is a new hard surfaced access track all the way to the pitches. This is always a relief for motorhomers like us! The pitches are spacious, level and all are hardstanding but with a large grass area adjacent. There is a stile straight out from the CL to the heath. Very peaceful spot with lots of afternoon and evening sun and birdsong. Equally, well placed for easy access to Norwich, the coast and the Broads. The owner was friendly and helpful. This site will be great to use in all seasons. We will return!
