We Will Return
We have just spent a relaxing 4 night break at this CL and loved it. Lovely warm welcome from John and Jen on arrival. Everything neat and clean, just as we like it. Having a toilet and shower was a bonus (spotless too), as was the free Wi-Fi. Good information "shed" with leaflets on local attractions as well as magazines, books and DVD's to borrow. You also get a "Welcome Pack" with information on the CL, local facilities etc which is most useful. The pub itself was nice and homely, more like a living room than a traditional pub with leather sofas and wood burning stoves (not on, thankfully!). Lots of eclectic touches added to the homely atmosphere. We had the carvery on Sunday in the restaurant which was very plentiful and tasty. Lots of other tempting dishes on the menu and specials board, and you get £5 off your nightly charge on the nights you eat in the restaurant. Husband liked the beer which is brewed in the adjoining barn. You can either drink in the pub or take it back to your caravan. You can even buy 4 pint carry out containers (as well as soft whip ice-cream cones!). Whilst staying at the CL, we visited Wisbech (nice largish historic town with lovely church and municipal gardens), Crowland (with abbey, unusual bridge and character houses), Springfields at Spalding (edge of town shopping outlet and nice show gardens), Spalding (nice for a wander around, especially along the river. You can also catch a water taxi to Springfields), Downham Market (small but characterful town), Baytree Garden Centre, Spalding (huge garden centre selling much more than garden sundries and plants) and Holbeach (3 miles away and nearest shops to the CL. Nice little town). John and Jen are CC members themselves and have obviously given a lot of thought to what they think their customers would like and I must say they are spot on with lots of thoughtful touches both on the CL and in the pub/restaurant. We look forward to returning again to this really lovely CL.
