Stunning site
Stunning scenery and ease of access to beautiful walks (albeit often challenging and steep!) are the main plusses of this site. Easy to get to off the A6 it is quite a compact site but has everything you require for a wonderful stay. It slopes slightly from side to side so a ramp is recommended. The hard standings are adequate and the Elsen Point well sited away from pitches and of a good, clean standard.
We visited in early April and the weather, although bright, was chilly with frequent hail and snow flurries so take warm and waterproof clothing at this time of year.
The site has wonderful panoramic views and it was really good to wake up to these each morning when opening the caravan blinds. It would have been useful to have some information about walks from the site and especially access to the Monsal Trail available on site but this wasn't a deal breaker. It is conveniently situated for visits to Chatsworth and Haddon Hall.
We will definitely be back to the Peak District and would definitely consider returning to Blackwell Hall too.
