So so peaceful

This site was very easy to find and the entrance is wide and a long tarmac drive. After a very thorough introduction and a booklet on what's what, emergency numbers and a huge bundle of leaflets, we pitched in the lower field just inside the entrance as it was the nearest to the water etc. Lovely and flat so didn't take much to level our van with plenty of space. We had good weather during our stay except for very heavy rain during the night on a few occasions and rain most of one day only. Very surprised how well drained the pitches are so it never got wet or muddy underfoot. Ian did say he had put good drainage in which showed he had. The Mere which isn't far away is a nice place to visit with its coffee shop and restaurant and we also enjoyed visiting the town itself with its shops and small indoor market once a week. We went to Chester as my husband's sister lives there and is a very interesting and amazing place to walk round and also Wrexham where we visited our nephew. Oswestry is bigger than we thought and we enjoyed and also the little town of Whitchurch where you must visit a cafe called The Little Tea Pot. Very quirky and eclectic where we enjoyed a light lunch. We had dinner once at the Red Lion in Ellesmere but didn't enjoy and Sunday lunch at the Trotting Mare just done the road from the site (take a right onto the main road of the site and about a mile or so on the left). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Birch Hill and would recommend it.
