Ease of arrival/welcome

IF YOU LIKE A PEACEFUL SITE, BEARSE FARM IS NOT FOR YOU.

We arrived after a long journey and the first thing that hit us was the road noise. I had phoned before booking, to ask about the road, as the site was very close to it. I was told it's a B road and it varies. It was actually terrible, like pitching next to the A1! The dog agility was also taking place in the field, just a few yards in front of the caravan. Road behind, and constant barking dogs and screeching owners in front of us. The noise from the road was continuous, from bad to horrendous, starting about 5.00 am until after midnight. It even kept us awake through the night. The noise from the road and barking dogs, went on for the whole of our stay. The owners of the dogs, at times, were outside the agility field, in front of our caravan, just letting their dogs bark. We have a dog but tell her not to bark. In the T&C's they ask us caravanners to be considerate to others, the dog owners were anything but considerate to us. We had booked for 12 nights, but left after 11 nights, we had had enough. We gave a 1 for peace and tranquility as no option for 0. Also a 2 for arrival/welcome as we never met the owners. Someone opened the gate for us one day, but they didn't introduce themselves. Once we got away from the site we enjoyed the many wonderful places and scenery, with lots of dog walks. We will visit the area again but this site is not for us unfortunately.

I am surprised you put up with it so long. I would have left ASAP. It looks like a very large field and there would be no need to intrude on you in the way described.

This is the drawback of having to pay in full when you book a week before your stay, £288 for 12 nights. We did view another CL site after a couple of days, but couldn't really justify paying again. The dog training field was large but most used the area nearest to the caravans, some waiting outside the gate, immediately in front our caravan, so no privacy. Never heard dogs barking so much, or owners so loud, even though dogs have excellent hearing. The training didn't take place as much at the weekend, but the road was still bad.
