Nice site in lovely part of Leicestershire

Pleasant site on slightly sloping field. Plenty of open space for dog walks and easy access to local beauty spots- Bradgate Park, Beacon Hill, Swithland Woods. Bit of noise from nearby road. We felt the site was a bit pricey for a CL - £30 a night - and no toilet or shower facilities. Sadly we didn't see the owners to raise this with them.

What a delightful wooded gem

We arrived wondering what we were coming to and left adoring the place. Definitely a site to return to and only an hour from home. The area is one we hadn't stayed in before but found it very scenic with lovely villages and eating places. As previous reviews say the site and farmyard are immaculate. The people are lovely and helpful. The cafe and gift shop a great place to go to. The farm shop opposite a great bonus with again lovely people and excellent food. Easy access from the site to interesting places - Stoneywell(NT), Kirby Muxloe castle(EH), Bosworth field, Stonehurst farm and motor museum, the market in Loughborough or Melton Mowbray to name a few. Yes you can hear the motorway noise but we hear road noise at home so it didn't bother us. The surroundings, trees, people and tranquillity more than made up for that. An added bonus was of reasonable wifi. Many thanks to Richard and Lynn for creating such a wonderful place. We hope to return soon.

Lovely site, very friendly owners

Lovely stay. Well kept site. Very welcoming and friendly owners. Easy access to site and facilities. Pitches clearly labelled. Great location for exploring the surrounding countryside and area. Walked to Beacon Hill from the campsite. Conveniently placed for main routes north & south.

Lovely Site run by Lovely people, perfect.

This was our first time staying at Bawdon Lodge Farm but it wont be our last. Bawdon Lodge Farm is local to us (about 10 minutes drive from home) but amazingly we'd never visited before. We have 2 small children and had heard about the Gift / farm shop and woodland trail which is why we we're keen to visit. We thought we'd tie it in with a weekend stay in the Van so booked for a weekend in May 2021. Communication with the owners was faultless prior to our arrival, access was good and pitches clearly labelled so finding the pitch and setting up was a breeze. Water / bins and Elsan point we're all easy to find / clearly labelled and well maintained. It's worth pointing out the water pressure was really good on the drinking water and Elsan point taps. A pet hate of mine is low pressure meaning it takes ages to fill up the Aquaroll, anyway no such problem here you'll be pleased to hear. The owners we're really nice and welcoming and made sure to come and see us once we had arrived. They even helped out bringing my wife some ice so she could enjoy a glass of gin (purchased form the on site shop) which was well needed with 2 little children tearing about the place. The on site gift shop was well stocked with plenty of nice gifts / sweet treats / Gin (Burleighs Gin is made on site) and toys from a separate shop, and across the road is a farm shop selling plenty of locally made and sourced fresh foods and drinks. Bawdon Lodge Farm is worth a visit for these shops alone, but on top of that there's 30 acres of woodland to explore and adventure in (on site) which is great for the children. For a small fee you can take part in the nature trail and if you complete it the kids get a prize, a great way to kill a few hours without leaving the site. The site its self is very well maintained and spotlessly clean and tidy, there's a locked main gate once the shops are closed meaning its very secure. There are so many great foot paths to explore within walking distance from the site and a short drive away is Mount St Bernard's Monastery which has its own shop / gardens and plenty of foot paths. There are also lots of lovely villages and towns nearby with supermarkets / shops etc if you cant get what you need from the on site shops. I can see us visiting Bawdon Lodge Farm CL regularly in the future and we'll be booking to go again in a couple of months time.

Lovely Site

We stayed during April 2021 on the way south. A quiet, friendly site with large level pitches and lovely dog walks on site. Convenient to main routes and excellent WI-FI.

Faultless. An absolute gem.

First rate communication from Richard before we arrived and a warm welcome when we did. Well-spaced pitches in a stunning setting with beautifully landscaped areas and some lovely walks. Very easy access from the motorway and, for us, an introduction to a part of the country which we shall certainly revisit.

Definitely will be back

Booked this CL as a stop-off on the way to Cornwall. Very easy to find, and handy from the M1 and A42. Very warm welcome from Richard, and nice pitches with everything required. Very secure, with codes for both entry and exit. Arrived during Covid: good protection everywhere. The CL is situated in a National Forest scheme, and guests are invited to wander at will through the plantings on specially cut paths. Heaven for the dog; and very relaxing to wander after travelling. We would have loved to give full marks; but some road noise is heard. But would have like to give 4.5, as this is the only negative we could find (and we are fussy travellers). Personally, I always sleep with earplugs; so was not bothered too much! Would recommend this lovely site to anyone. Will be back - thank you.

A lovely peaceful CL

This as an excellent CL. I only live 5 miles away and used a long weekend to get myself familiar with my new 'van. Having said that I have rebooked for a couple of weeks time. I was very impressed with the measures that have been taken to make visitors safe from Corvid19. There are plenty of places to walk the dog without leaving the site. The farm opposite sells milk, bread, yoghurt and some scummy scones. It is also an ideal site for anyone to drop off on their journey north or south on the M1, junctions 22 and 23 are only about 5 miles away. A lovely site that is in an area not often visited but with some great places to visit.

Fantastic stay

After turning up to the wrong place I thought I had booked late last Thursday evening, Pat (Richards) mum, kindly let us stay. She was so welcoming and accommodating. We had the place to ourselves and it is beautiful. Peaceful with lovely walks. Great access to Loughborough for my husband why cycled to work! We will certainly be back. Thank you

Gem of a site

Bawdon Lodge Farm is a fantastic site. We only live a few miles away and have just returned from our first and most definitely not last visit. Richard was most welcoming upon arrival, and showed us to our pitch. The surroundings are beautiful, with lovely walks and peaceful location. We will back back very soon!
