Ease of arrival/welcome

Booked to come back and we haven't even left yet!

We booked a 7 night stay here first week of October 2019. Fairly easy to get to, the CL is accessed through a boat yard. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted by the friendly owner John, who showed us to our pitch. As mentioned in another review, the CL does not overlook the river - the pictures on the website showing this are of the rally field next door. A little disappointing but it is still a beautiful site. Our pitch was extremely spacious and fairly level - we did need a ramp but it didn't need much correcting at all. With great wifi, EHU, a freeview aerial point, water supply and also waste to every pitch (with each service point having it's own little light) the site is extremely good value for money. We put our awning up for the week and the only downside was that ground sheets are not permitted. When we arrived the grass was extremely muddy given the persistent rain beforehand, so the awning was largely unusable apart from extra storage. We would usually sit in the awning however chairs would have just sunk so this wasn't possible. One of the drawbacks of Autumn caravanning unfortunately! During our visit there were some necessary works being carried out which didn't really bother us however the owner, Lisa, came round to apologise to all the caravanners for the noise with a box of chocolate biscuits! A lovely touch from great hosts. The site itself is fabulously situated and just a 10 minute walk down a quiet lane to Wyre Piddle where there are 2 riverside pubs. We only visited The Anchor Inn (a dog friendly pub) which was lovely. Beautiful riverbank gardens to the rear which I imagine are packed in the Summer. Friendly staff even lent us an umbrella for a rainy walk home one evening. Pershore is a beautiful little town full of cafes, shops and pubs and is around a 20 minute walk from the site down a quiet lane and across a couple of fields alongside the river. The walk was extremely muddy at the time we visited so wellies are a must here! There is an Asda and Tesco Express in the town centre. The library (dog friendly!) supplied us with information on local walks. A visit to Worcester is thoroughly recommended if you get an opportunity... a beautiful city with a relaxed sleepy-town feel to it. We absolutely love Avon Bank Meadow, so much so we have just booked to come back next Easter for 8 nights and can't wait! Many thanks to Lisa and John for their hospitality!
