Immaculate welcoming site

Wonderful little CL immaculately presented with near level 5 pitches, four cotswold gravel and one grass. Access to the site via decent sized turn (probably best approached from the common, not Minchinhampton itself) between two stone posts. Facilities all kept very clean, tidy and fully functional, including recycling bins. Owner makes a point of coming to greet you on arrival and is very welcoming. Website description completely accurate. Literally walk out of the gate and step onto Minchinhampton Common. Worth noting that the common is quite breezy being relatively high but the CL is part sheltered by interference fencing and some trees. Paddock opposite the pitches with three very fine horses (at least while we were there). The Old Lodge (10 mins walk) is a very spacious inn with beer garden(s) - great beer and really good food - recommend the breakfast! Tremendous access to all points of the compass via the common - minor downside is that you do hear invitable traffic but it really is minor in comparison to the gain of such close access to the common! We loved bringing our van here and will certainly visit again.

Welcoming and peaceful site.

We came for a week's relaxation and recuperation from our busy lives. We could not have picked better! The site was well maintained with Sue being welcoming. Sue and Nick were friendly and helpful giving much needed info on the surrounding area with places to walk the dogs (bear left by the Bear!). Sue sells jam and marmalade which was scrummy and wonderful on toast. The local common just across the road from the site was good for walking the dogs and in the evening we were often in conversation with other dog owners who lived nearby. We enjoyed walks and visiting local towns and villages. The nearby village of Nailsworth had a Morrisons and very friendly people when you walked around the assortment of shops with a lovely bakery. Our dog needed some veterinary care after a nasty tick bite and the local vets was helpful and knowledgeable with a friendly attitude. Gloucester cathedral is a must see as is the docks area for coffee. Cirencester was a lovely market town with friendly chatty locals. The whole week refreshed both of us and our dogs and parrot. We came away relaxed and trying to work out when we could come again.

Lovely relaxing place

We decided to do an impromptu weekend away in our new to us motorhome. We didn't want to go too far away but we found a gem in this site. It was an hours journey from home, the owner replied by email quickly and efficiently giving us all the info we needed to secure the booking. The entrance was difficult for us to see in the dark (having arrived at 8pm) but Mr Atkins was looking out for us and came to find us when we over shot the drive. We had 2 lovely breezy walks with the dog around the local area over the weekend and felt like we had been away for a week. Thank you for a lovely site and helping us to feel welcome.

Fantastic find

We booked this site as we were attending concert at nearby Westonbirt, the booking was a pleasant affair the owners couldn't have been more helpful. On our arrival we were greeted by a lawned area which was well maintained. Shortly after pitching we were greeted by Sue who made us more than welcome giving us information on the best places to eat nearby, even going as far as lending us a takeaway menu. The site is set in a tranquil part of the English countryside and the only disturbance was the beautiful sound of songbirds made even better by the peace and quiet. Would we visit again?? you bet, cannot wait until we book again, if you are looking for a busy activity filled weekend then give it a miss, but if its a beautiful peaceful get away from it all time you desire then this is the place to come

Excellent access to the common very peaceful

This site is in the middle of the common so is a fantastic location for walkers and hikers. The site is very compact...so vans are quite close together. Electric hook up is quite a distance..though the owner Nick can provide an extension lead.. Basic CL..owner very welcoming..

well kept secret

This is a great little CL surrounded by fields on one side and a sports ground on the other [only ever saw a couple of runners so not busy or noisy when we visited] The owners are so friendly and welcoming and a source of local information. The local chip shop in town appears now to have closed down but there are other shops in the village which is a stunning little village, in fact there are so many little villages within walking distance. The site is adjacent to the Minchinhampton Common which is great for dogs and walking, popular space but never seemed over busy. Just beware the roaming cows and the presents they leave on the common! Good pub on the common by the golf course not the cheapest but looked good food.10 minutes walk away or 2 mins drive. Dog friendly pub. To make the site even better it would be nice to see the pitches have hardstanding, but only because it was wet one day, ground never got boggy despite an almighty thunderstorm and downpour. We will be back to enjoy the walking around, and we must not forget watching the antics of the Alpacas and horses having fun in the field adjacent. Great sunset from the site, got some stunning pictures.

Alpacas and Kites on the Common

We have just spent a wonderful BH weekend at this CL. We found the site easily, and had a warm welcome from Nicholas, who also lent us an extra electric cable as the EHU points are all in one place. The site is a level grass area, with good facilities, overlooking the fields and Minchinhampton Common, which is just outside the gate. We were watched while setting up by the very inquisitive Alpacas, who also kept us entertained over the weekend. There are plenty of walks directly from the site, although there are some steep hills, so be warned! Minchinhampton is a level walk away, which took us about 15 minutes, with a shop, cafe and fish & chip shop. However the pub is now closed. Stroud has a wonderful farmers market every Saturday, and Sue from the site sells her jams & Chutney, which I can recommend. The National Trust who manage the common had a Kite festival on the Sunday, and the sky was full of kites in many different shapes and sizes. Can also recommend a visit to Winstones Ice Cream on Rodborough Common. We had a great weekend, and will definitely be back, as soon as possible.

Lovely quiet site

This is a traditional CL with basic facilities but all you need if you use on board washroom/toilet. Easy to find (follow the owners directions) easy enough access (though a little tight - need to swing wide on your way in), nice and level and good views. The alpacas are relaxing to watch and there's next to no passing traffic. If there's one small point it would be that it's a little bight tight for space across the top where the electric hook ups are placed. It would be great if the pitches were marked across the end, with the third tight to the fence to give a bit more room between vans. Not a major issue. We had a great weekend and will almost certainly return.

Such a lovely site

Such a lovely site, with electric hook-up. Owners so friendly and helpful when we had problems with our water heater. We fed the Alpacas, so sweet and very gently. The site is very quiet, and near to such beautiful Cotswold villages. Driving to the site we found very easy - even using our TomTom! Ann and Dave
