A Hidden Gem
We have just spent a wonderfully relaxing few days at this site. If you are looking for a manicured site like many Caravan Club sites then this may not be for you as it is a working farm with lots of barns, lots of large pieces of equipment and the usual hazzards. You couldnt let your young children run wild ! If like us you are looking for a site that respects wildlife and nature with so much to see, then this will be a joy. The grass pitches are level and softly mown. The hedges and perimeters are a haven for lots of wildlife and the fields beyond are an even greater treasure . Their big barns attract hundreds of House martins who fly in clouds around the site with their tuneful calls. I have never seen as many Butterflies and Dragonflies and keep your eyes peeled for the odd Hare ! Lots of local walks , especially if you have dogs and some good information from Judith, the owner, led us to Lacampagna in nearby Stonehouse.....an amazing Italian. You will need to book as it is packed out from opening to closing. Try as well to visit Nympsfield to watch gliders and paragliders in action against a backdrop of amazing scenery.
One downside is that the Hardstand is just that- all concrete and a former farmyard. No chance to put pegs in for an awning and it is rather sloping so be aware. We will definitely stay here again....on a grass pitch, as it is very convenient for the M5. It also is a secure site with keypad entry. The owners are very helpful. The toilet, whilst basic, was spotlessly clean. Many CL's dont have one. Plenty of hook up choices.
