three night stay
Lovely welcome and useful local info. We had a level hardstanding, but the grass has a gentle slope.
Watch the access from the main road as there is a cattle grid close to it. I approached too cautiously and had a wheel spin! Follow the upward slope and bear right to access the CL. The site affords fantastic views over the estuary and sea (a big plus).
At Pen Sarn, 10-15 mins, there is a rail station which is a request stop! Here, you can go to Portmeirion and Barmouth. Beware, the tains are infrequent. However, it gives a nice break from driving.
We walked into the village. You have a choice of a short stretch of main road before nipping through a gate and walking along a hedgerow, or taking a more strenous walk through Pen Sarn. This was up and down some decent hilly lanes and took around 45 mins. Never believe anyone who tells you that your destination is only 10-20 minutes away on foot! Only our fit-bits told the truth.
Another word of warning: The nearby village of Llanfair has a very narrow main road, with dry stone walls and few wide spaces. Pull your mirrors in and drive with extreme caution.
With the above caveats, this is a highly recommended CL.
