Great CL and great owners.

Our owners took us to this CL for a two week holiday with the promise of plenty of walks in interesting places. The site is very pleasant, level and overlooking open fields. We had noted that someone on a previous review had mentioned traffic noise and disturbance from a cattle grid up the road. Really, not even an issue, believe us. The cattle grid is, according to our dad, a driver and a three wood away, and the amount of passing traffic is nothing to worry about all. We got plenty of walks as promised, locally straight from the site and plenty of others within a 20 mile radius. The site owners, Richard and Julie, were a mine of information which was great and they were probably the best CL hosts we have ever come across. Our owners have said that we will be coming back here again so that is something we will look forward to. From Arri and Anna (two very happy dogs).

Well designed CL

This is an excellent CL the friendly owners have put a great deal of thought into what is required. It may be considered a bit expensive as it was dearer that one of the club sites we stayed at during our recent 5 week holiday but we felt it was worth it. The access to the New Forest and the local Nature Reserve was a bonus and the coast was not too far away. There was some traffic and farm vehicle noise from the lane but this did not detract from our enjoyable 10 night stay.

What a gem.

Have just got back after spending six days at Julie and Richards CL. It's ideal for exploring the New Forest having access to major roads yet it's off the beaten track. A short walk away is open moorland, stunning in its beauty and tranquility. Then there are the lakes, the best we found was the lake next to the visitor center with its nature hide and abundance of birds and squirrels and at another hide a family of Grass snake sunning themselves on a log just below the hide, something I've never seen before. Another must see is the feeding of the Deer by the Rangers everyday. All this coupled with quaint villages and good pubs, ( mostly empty at night ) made for an excellent holiday. Julie and Richard are two very likeable people who are always about to give you local information and are justifiably proud of there CL. It's down on our favorites list.

Jewel in the crown

I was looking to rebook this site and thought I would look at the reviews and saw a rather negative one so I decided to comment we stayed here for a week last year in fact the first guests we received a very warm welcome from Richard and Julie who were still putting in the finishing touches the site has 6 pitches to allow for rotation and also to permit early and late arrival departure it is obvious that they are club members from the detail they have put in,access and the waste disposal is the best I have used, regards to road noise it is minimal and that is mainly due to the cattle grid marking the start of the forest part of rural life, if you are into walking cycling bird watching etc you are in a fantastic location you can often see deer in the paddock beyond the fence do you really need a swimming pool ? Not with the natural beauty this site offers by the way the free range eggs are a bargain anyway must go now and hope I can get booked in August keep up the good work R n J

A lovely break

We've just come back from a one week stay on this lovely CL. It is beautifully maintained & very easy to find & access. The owners couldn't have been more helpful & pleasant. There is slight traffic noise from the lane which runs alongside but not enough to bother us or spoil our stay. The New Forest is right on the doorstep & both Fordingbridge & Ringwood are close by for any supplies that may be needed. Fresh eggs are available on site which is an added bonus. We will definitely use again when next in the area.

lovely site, but not for us

Air View farm is a lovely CL situated in the New Forest.  A warm welcome by both Richard & Julie who have put a lot of thought in how a CL should be set out. Two good fresh water points situated so no matter where you pitch fresh water is close by. Clean grey water area and CDP point is a well fashioned aluminium flushing toilet with good pressure water hose with a sink a liquid soap dispenser. A large shed at the end of theCL where recycling bins are provided as well as plenty of local information including laminated maps for walks to local pubs and Hockey's farm shop (well worth a visit for both adults food shopping and animals for the children) We were allowed to arrive early and depart a little later than 12 to allow us to have lunch. The nearest pub The Old Beams does not allow dogs inside the pub due to an open plan kitchen but just down the road is the Alice Lisle which does allow dogs inside. Both walks to each pub can be either directly following the road or picturesque walks around the lakes (both just over a mile walk) All this said there were a couple of negatives; 1. The CL is only metres from a busy Mockbeggar lane (this is something out of the owners hands) 2. At £15 a night it is quite expensive for a CL, especially as the surrounding CL sites offer the same clean facilities for £12 a night and the £15 CL sites offer swimming pool (summer only) 3. I use CL sites as they have limited caravans (5) however during our 4 night stay 3 of the nights 6 caravans onsite in 0.5 acre. 4. We have a dog which we always keep on his lead or his secure wire staked into the ground. We found it frustrating that one of the vans does not believe in this and allowed their dog to sober freely around other people's units and foul where it pleased.

Fantastic Sheltered Site

Just returned from a long weekend on this brilliant site. This site is relatively new and as we were leaving Richard the owner was carry out some more improvements on what is an excellent site it is flat ,very sheltered (as we had no problems during Britain's worst storm since 1989) , we'll mown grass etc  and the facilities are excellent with every thing from the key pad site entry to the hand washing facility at the toilet disposal site making this easily the best CL site we have visited this year Fresh eggs available in the facilities shed and some brilliant walks and cycle rides direct from site .The only downfall is I will have to wait until the spring to return!

Ease of arrival/welcome

A truly pleasant gateway to the western side of the New Forest,

We stayed heer for three days mid/late September. It is easy to find and the entrance is very well thought out, allowing you to safely clear the road before entering via the coded locked gate. when we arrived Richard was working in the field and we were extremely warmly welcomed. A great deal of investment and hard work has gone into creating this very pleasant new CL which offers a flat recently laid pitching area, electricity and even a plug in TV point ( although we found the reception within our van good enough with the standard antenna). There are six pitches which allow for pitch rotation to presumably help reduce wear and tear. A small shed is erected in the bottom of the field which houses toursit information, waste bins (recyclable, general and glass) and also offers fresh farm eggs at a very reasonable price. There are two water points (very good water pressure) and excellent waste water and Elson point. When we stayed there was only one other unit on site but even when full there should be sufficient room to stop it feeling crowded. The only very minor downside is the cattle grid at the end of the road, which can be heard in the mornings particularly when traffic is at it's busiest ( and that's not very busy and not really a great problem- it is the entrance to the New Forest after all). Great walking area around the adjacent lakes , or for the more adventurous the Forest itself. We walked across the forest to Linwood and also parked at Lydford and walked across to Burley, all off road. Very dog friendly area with a fantastic pub about two miles away called Alice Lisle which allowed us to take our two Japanese Spitz'z into the pub to eat on a Friday night. excellent service, prices and the food was very good. Fordingbriidge is the nearest Chip shop (Philpotts) which is OK but nothing special and tends to run out of fish early evening from our experience. there is a petrol station 1.6M towards Ringwood on the A338 which is the cheapest for fuel in the area and also has a Budgens supermarket for essentials. We also visited The Shoot Inn (less than 3 miles across the forest ( a good walk but boggy on wet days, just turn left out the site and keep walking until you hit the fell and leave the track behind), which again is dog friendly, offers traditional pub food at reasonable prices with many meals being available in two sizes, ideal for children or those with a smaller appetite. It is a Fowlers pub, who brew a very acceptable IPA and the pub also has it's own micro brewery (nothing left unfortunately when we were there). To summarise, very friendly CL, excellent walking and cycling areas very close to the less busy north Forest but only a couple of miles from Fordingbridge to the North and a little further to Ringwood to the south. We will definitely be returning.

FIRST VISIT

A newly opened site that we hope to visit again. A little costly compared to other CLs but the facilities are good and will get even better once the Wi-Fi is installed. The owners have shown great attention to detail. The 6 grass pitches (only 5 occupied) are in a line backing onto Mockbeggar Lane, from which there is intermittent traffic noise, and face northwards onto open pasture. Excellent walking from the site into the New Forest, which is about 300 yards away, and around the lakes to the North and South. To the South there is a very good and large nature reserve through which you can walk to Ringwood.
