Excellent CL
We have just returned from a week's stay at Abbey View and we can honestly say that it is the biggest CL we have ever visited and also one of the best kept. Our name was on the arrivals board when we arrived so setting up was very easy and we were delighted with the wonderful views over the Esk valley. It is worth pointing out that the view does come at a price because the site is exposed to an Easterly wind and for four days of our stay the wind was definitely cold and brought constant cloud cover when most parts of the country were basking in sunshine. There is a sister site across the road which is equally well kept but doesn't have the same views nor the same exposure to the wind so there is a choice to be made between views and shelter if you wish to stay in the village of Aislaby. The village is very conveniently placed for Whitby and all it has to offer and there is a frequent (but not as frequent as it was) X93/X94 bus service. For the more energetic, it is perfectly possible to walk into Whitby directly from the site, along the Esk valley, and return by bus. One minor criticism is that what appeared to be a recycling bin had no sign explaining what should be put in it and towards the end of our stay was full to overflowing with all sorts of things. TV and mobile broadband reception were both decent most of the time. All in all a great site and we will definitely return.
