What is the price of petrol in the U.K.?

With a dramatic fall in the price of a barrel (44 gallon drum) of oil, our petrol prices have plummetted in recent weeks Down Under.

Getting back from our trip to the Continent in early September, the price of petrol then was around A$1.40  (70p) for a litre, diesel was A$1.56 (78p)

Last week it got down to 99.4c a litre (49.7p) for regular unleaded 91 Octane petrol, but has since jumped a couple of bob back up to A$1.19 (59.5p) a litre.

Diesel is selling for A$1.15 (77.5p), being slightly cheaper than petrol for the first time in about 30 years. That didn't jump up at all, so I guess they are still selling old stock. I wonder though, what the price will end up at next week?

So . . . . how have the wonderful oil companies and the government's benevolence been treating the British motorist over the past few weeks?

I wonder what I can expect to be paying in May when I fly in?
