Washing your caravan. The roof nightmare.

I have just brought my caravan back home  (150mls)  from the south coast where it has been in storage. It will soon be time to carry out those jobs that have accumulated over the year. I find it best to do these at leisure, at home. Having not been used for some time and with road conditions as they are at this time of year, the van is externally filthy. My first task will be to give it a thorough wash to make it look reasonable whilst standing in my drive.

I normally do this myself to keep costs as low as possible. But I am elderly and becoming somewhat  infirm. I did wonder if readers had any ideas for making cleaning a caravan a bit easier. I do have a pressure washer  which is fine for the sides but I'm afraid the roof is always a big challenge. This year it seems particularly thick with  green gunge and I regret that scaling a ladder with a pressure lance in one hand  is now a thing of the past. Any ideas?

My thoughts turn to professional cleaning. Do you know or have experience of vans being cleaned in 'lorry washes ' ?  They must be available somewhere - are they suitable for caravans and what do they cost?

Like most places these days we have the multitude of 'hand car washes' in my area. Yesterday I had a chat with one of them who says he has a ladder and whilst unusual he would wash  my van, including roof, for £20. I thought this very good value and subject to any comments you may make I will probably give them a try in the next week or two. You would not have your car washed whilst raining or snowing but I do not really mind my van being done in these conditions and have suggested they do the van when thin on work - hence the rather good price I suspect.

Any advice, techniques, tips, products etc would be appreciated by myself and I am sure by many readers.
