Has anyone stayed overnight at Newhaven Ferry port? Any tips? Thankyou.

Haven’t been there for many years but the  FAQs on NewhavenFerryPort.co.uk website say there is limited overnight parking at that port.  But the check in for the 2300sailing does not close till 2215 so you may be in the way until that time. So check. (Edited after Colin’s helpful post)

I think the best thing would be a phone call. I'm guessing you have an early am crossing so ask what the earliest check in time would be. A guess would be after the last pm ferry the night before has departed.

If you view the entrance to the ferry port on Google Street View you will see a small car park to the left (adjoining the station but without direct access to it). If your van is circa 6 metre you could park in there until the late ferry queue clears (It is a car park meant for foot passengers leaving their car at the ferry terminal but as you can see on Street View there are vans parked there).

Also there is a Sainsbury's less than 300 yards away so you could fuel up there and do a shop taking you to 22:00.

But I strongly suspect that you will be able to park directly in the ferry queue even before the the late ferry leaves. Easy enough to form two lanes. Just expect to be woken up super early!!

P.S. I book the 17:00 ferry  having travelled down from Bolton with an early start so I have no direct experience.

Last time we used the Newhaven ferry we stayed for one night at a cl. Lower Tulleys Wells Farm, Cooksbridge. No. 1486 in handbook. Just a short drive from the terminal.
