There is a very good Facebook page for owners of older caravans called Colin Burtons -DIY Repairs and Maintenance.  Over 2000 members including some caravan engineers were members share information and advice.  It's amazing what some have been able to do including extensive damp repairs. What came across from some of the engineers is that the new construction methods in modern caravans also leak and the poor build quality is still a problem.. Lots of tips and thinking about it it's probably good for most owners as even new vans have problems some of them serious.

I was going to post a hyperlink to help others find the page, but it's a group you have to join to be able to see the posts.  If anyone wants to join the 'Join' page is here

I've amended your thread title slightly to show the alteration you yourself pointed out and also the fact that it's a Facebook group not a page.

Hi everyone,

Whilst it is good to share various sources of information that may be of use to to fellow members, on looking into this Mr Colin Burton's facebook group I found what I consider to be a little disturbing.

It appears that Mr Burton is doing a rather good job of promoting a data cd that he is selling on eBay, containing untold amounts of information to do with caravans, manuals, instructions, guides, ect, a wealth of information, especially to help those with older units that may find it difficult to source manuals for older fitted equipment.

On searching eBay for these cd's I came across another member selling identical discs, but that member has in his listing statements accusing Mr Burton of purchasing the disc from them, copying them and selling them as his own work.  The other eBay member has even included pictures of the transaction receipts proving that Mr Burton had indeed purchased the discs from them. Apart from the proof shown in the other members listings, it does indeed seem that Mr Burton has been rumbled, as he has recently changed his eBay id from "burton-retail" to "diy-caravan-repairs"   and the other ebay member has now also made this fact known by including a screenshot of Mr Burton's eBay user name history showing the recent change.

I do not know how others feel about what it appears Mr Burton is doing here, I personally hate to think he is capitalizing on someone else's hard work. Out of curiosity and to maybe give me a better idea of who was claiming what, I checked both members eBay feedback, going back as far as possible, and it does indeed show that the other member was getting excellent feedback for his disc long before Mr Burton was even a member of ebay.  That along with the proof of Mr Burton's purchase from the other member has convinced me to buy from the other member.

Yes, the disc does indeed contain a heck of a lot of manuals, guides, instructions and useful information regarding just about anything to do with caravans, including lots of hints, tips and know how, it has very obviously been a labour of love to gather together all that is on the disc.

I would certainly recommend the disc, I would not dream of telling you who to buy from, but having researched both eBay members, I am happy that I chose who I feel is the rightful creator of that disc, Oh, and it is £2.00 cheaper too!
