looking for Cheap sites in france

Hi all, we are new to caravaning & we are going to france begining of august, sailing to calais early am so got a full day ahead of us, looking to go down the west side of france and looking for some bargain sites within walking distance of a town/ village & pub etc ? any suggestions would be greatfully accepted, we are in our late 50s so dont need all bells and whistles on a site. hope someone can give us some ideas cheers. mick
