IKEA toughened glass 'crockery'

Ikea are selling some lightweight toughened glass crockery, Corelle style, for less than £1 per item.  There are two or three types - one plain white.  Worth checking out if you're looking to replace heavier weight crockery, or as a replacement for melamine.

I have never been to IKEA - not had a desire to and our nearest one is 25 or so miles away.

May I suggest you make the effort to visit a IKEA store as they are quite fascination and unlike most other stores in the UK. Most of the stuff is pretty good value and some really good value. They all have very good value restaurants so if you buy nothing you won't be that much out of pocket. You may decide its not to our taste but its worth a look.

Might take a peek at some point, to check this out.  Heard they have a one way system round the shop - put me off straight away.  I can't bear the thought of not being able to double back or compare/change my mind.  Not much of a shopper at the best of times - not my idea of a pastime or hobby - happy to potter about in towns etc when out and about exploring - but exploring an out of town retail park no chance Sealed

Off to ikea next week so going to look for some of these - do the patterned ones say they are toughened glass on them? Dont want to get normal ones by accident but prefer pretty to plain white

It's about 25 miles to our nearest IKEA too, so we don't tend to get there very often, however, we have been really pleased with the stuff we have bought from them.  I'm not a fan of the store, generally. You can get around it, to a degree, but it is designed as a one way system - that's what I don't really like.

BMB, I think the 'toughened glass/ Corelle type' are only in white, from what I can see.

Whilst there is a 'one-way' walkway, there is no problem with doubling back on yourself, revisiting a particular area, or going through some of the cut-throughs to miss out large amounts of the store that you don't want to visit.  Just have a look at the store map on the way in, check out where you want to be (Marketplace for Corelle type crockery) and head straight there.

I just wish the one way system would be introduced into all supermarkets, it would make shopping so much easierWink

If you are not interested in the furniture just head up to the top floor where the Market Place is, usually next door to the Cafe.Be interested to know what you make of it.

Thanks - looking at the description the dinner plates are quite small as well at 25cm - will have a look anyway
