IKEA Tempered glass plates and dishes

Just been to IKEA this afternoon and have come back with tempered glass plates and dishes.  I know this has been discussed before, but I think it's worth mentioning from time to time as threads get lost as they drop down the list.

We have some Corelle in the van which are similar.  To be honest, I think the Corelle look better quality, but at 50p each plate/ dish, we're not complaining!  We've decided to buy some of these to use at home as we're fed up of plates getting chipped, especially in the dishwasher.  The OFTAST range are dishwasher and microwave proof and very lightweight.  Worth a look.

We bought some of these earlier this year. Had never been to IKEA but tried these following a thread on here. Silly prices, are these too cheap or is other crockery too expensive? That aside were really pl3ased with them in our motorhome.

Well, we'll have a sort out this next week and consign some of our old plates (especially the chipped ones) to the bin.  I just don't know we keep some of this old stuff....

The Ikea post, mentioning this, which I started ages ago stayed current for ages, because lots and lots of people bought them. It seems to have completely disappeared since this super new forum came into existence, or rather it's too hard to trawl back through all the old posts!

I'm glad to hear, though, that the topic of Ikea glass crockery has been restarted because we've had ours for quite a while now, and its been dropped on campsite washblock floors and lived to tell the tale.  It's definitely worth buying.

We bought the IKEA mugs and had only used them a couple of times when on pouring hot water into one, it suddenly cracked and fell apart! We haven't used the others since.

We bought these about a year ago.  My husband was not sure saying they will not last and what was I thinking.  Now he would not be without them and we have bought spares to keep at home just in case we need to replace any. laughing

We have a set of glass mugs, not Ikea, and one shattered. Contacted the supplier who swore this has never happened before and sent us out a replacement set and refunded our initial costs. Had no further problems so give them a go.

On my last IKEA run I bought a complete set of their Corelle-a-like tempered glass crockery and it's lovely. So much nicer to eat from than the melamine we were using; and it doesn't stain or mark. Can even use it in the microwave, so it's a win-win-win!

If only they did a nice set of cups and saucers as well; the mugs are too chunky for me. I usually take a couple of china mugs but have kept the old melamine cups and saucers; they're so useful when cooking or to store things in the fridge.

Visited Ikea today, needed a couple more of these side plates. I noticed that they now have a new range of coloured tempered glass crockery.  Slightly more expensive than the white, but still excellent value.smile
