£2 for 250ml during February. That’s enough for two tanks of diesel. But is Redex any good? I’ve bought a few bottles and will give it a go for the next 3,000 miles. It will certainly be a lot cheaper than buying BP Ultimate or Shell V power.

The OP did say two tanks of diesel, so we are not talking about the petrol engine upper cylinder lubricant Redex but I suspect one or other of their diesel combustion improvers?

Here comes the question, is it for a DPF diesel or pre DPF diesel? They do a special one for DPF engines. Like two stroke oil I for one would not be wanting to put any non approved product into one with a DPF .  The often suggested mineral two stroke oil whilst it might stabilise combustion can't but increase the ash build up in the DPF, the inevitable life limiter of these rather expensive devices.

Snake oil does much the same, plus it cures arthritis, eczema, broken legs, pet flatulence, Carrot Fly and blocked drains.

wink

I first learned of adding 2 stroke oil to my diesel tank from the Kia Sorento and Hilux Owners forum and read up on the FL2 forum. ( Freelander ) I added half of a 500ml bottle of Carlube 2t per tank on my first Hilux ( which did 100,000 miles ) and now I add it to my new Hilux. I found that it really did quieten the injector rattle on my MK6 and seemed to make the engine run smoother, I'd say anything that makes an engine runs smoother will prolong it's life.

One life, live it, don't waste it at the side of the road repairing Land Rovers. !!! ( Hilux Owners Club ).

I'm another diesel driver that uses 250ml of low ash 2 stroke in a full tank of fuel .

I picked the tip up off another forum & gave it a try ......no problems & the engine runs smooth & quiet another bonus is the fuel pump gets added lubrication .
