I've been doing a bit of research lately on exchange rates and money transfers.
The Travelcard is a way to go for short periods, but if you want to go to Europe for two or three months, you might want to look into Forex.
The catch is you must have a bank in a Eurozone country, able to accept the transfers of money from Pounds.
Anyone getting Pounds exchanged into Euros, over a two month period, will probably get a lot more in their overseas bank account than what your Travelcard will deliver up.
Check it out.
