With reference to a previous post .I signed up to this scheme to get relief on VAT back via my accountants returns etc .I have two fuel cards to use ,one for U.K & one for Europe. The relevant fuel stations MAY be a little further away than your route, but you have to reason how far to go ,before the equivelant value of VAT is met as some outlets can be afar .My nearest is Ashford Kent .SO ,do i drive that far (unless going that way ) just to fill up ?? !! Only time will tell 'methinks ' Undecided. The todays fuel prices (NET) ,are U.K 91.57/Belg' 75.31/France 78.67/Spain 64.43/Irl 80.89. !! Hmmm.Undecided.

I think you need to explain how or why someone would be  entitled to buy fuel VAT free as clearly this option is not available to the general public?

Write your comments here...so it is business and not personal use. presumably you have to prove you used the fuel for business use and not pleasure .  I  guess if the business is registered for VAT  anyway they can claim it back through the normal way.

IF the business has sufficient turnover for VAT registration, then under CERTAIN conditions the VAT can be recovered from the VAT account. Any person benefiting from this becomes liable to pay Income Tax on the benefit against a scale charge just the same as all other business users. Failure to declare the benefit could if discovered, result in penalties and recovery of evaded tax. The VAT man tends to take the hump in such cases and may nominate the account for additional payments in advance for future situations. The Rev' have a similar process involving additional tax burden of 50% in advance to accommodate any repetition of such "accounting errors" An awful lot of pain for very little gain in my opinion.
