Cost of Caravanning for families

I've just been talking with my brother about the sites he's booking this year and where he plans to travel,He's decided to stay local in scotland and reduce the miles he has to travel due to the cost of fuel for pulling a family can with a family 4x4.

I know there a quite a few on here that say you don't need a 4x4 a 4 door saloon can do the job.

But 2 adults 2 kids both in seats 1 is a full baby car seat,

a caravan loaded with what you need for a trip for say 7 days, a standard family car can not take it I've tried.......

And most lighter weight/smaller van’s also can not take the load.

So his plan is to try and book a seasonal pitch for 2014 to keep the costs down.

He doesn't want to do this but its that or stop caravanning full stop.

Its coming to a time where more and more families/retired/singer caravaners/single income families are going to have to do this, caravanning was a cheep way of having a break but now its getting out of control.
