Saw an article in mag - guy had fitted caravan steady feet to his step.  Looked good, but those I found were moulded on the bottom face, with very little load spreading.  So, using some spare 10mm plywood, I cut four 5" squares and fitted onto these a 1" x 10mm frame, painting them to give a decent finished appearance. One step foot sits in each frame, and the step (and user) load is spread evenly across a total of 100 sq. inches of flat surface.
