I am back insured with the Club after a long absence. What I liked was the simple quote system  and the straightforward questions. My requirements are very simple as I have an older van on a seasonal pitch on a none club site where they also provide my winter storage. Having discussed touring again with my other half we decided we were happy in Pembrokeshire at our gem of a site. I don't need contents cover as there is little apart from the TV worth taking . I just want market value cover should the van get stolen catch fire or roll down a hill and do some third party damage. Others oblige but have so many exclusions you wonder if they would pay if you claimed. Yes my £61 policy is good value beating Mr Pickles by £14 . The ability to remove things I did not need is a great bonus. Don't tour but will remain a member plenty of goof benefits and you never know may tour again one day.

We left a few years ago as there was a gap in cover when using the caravan abroad. When we looked at plugging the gap we found that we could cover all angles and still save money. Will look again this year as circumstances now slightly different.

I think the main point must be what happens when you need to make a claim. I unfortunately wrote off my caravan when it became unhitched whilst on a motorway and went into the fast lane. The claim was settled and I was able to buy a replacement within two weeks. At all stages everyone I dealt with showed compassion as the accident had shaken us both up. They also arranged collection and disposal of the damaged caravan. So for me it will be the club's insurance every time. Just a point of interest, even though my car was not involved, the claim for the caravan colliding with another car had to be covered by my car insurance. I was happy to make the two claims (and lose the no claim bonus on each policy) as I was so happy no one was injured.

I've just insured with the club as i've noticed that other insurers have been imposing tighter restrictions on where my van was stored.  Frank Pickles wouldn't renew my insurance due to it being stored at a non working farm although it has CCTV, Keypad entry gates and a wardan living next to the entrance.

Other insurers are now asking for gated keypad or swipe card entry on the storage sites as well.
