Alko Wheel lock

 Perhaps I'm missing something here, but I really don't know what the problem is with the Alko lock.  OK - I accept that the determined thief can overcome any security device, given sufficient time, obscured from view and not overheard - but it's marketed as a 'theft deterrent', and as such, I think it does the job very well.

Difficulty in alignment isn't a problem I have experienced at all.  I use the MM and have got into the habit of, when parking the van, making sure that the wheel is correctly aligned and then put the bolt in.  If the lozenge doesn't fit squarely, just move it a bit with the mover until it does. Job done.

I have a TA van - and, yes, I also have Lock 'n Level and can fit both locks and level the van in about five minutes. For me, it's five minutes well spent!

A lot of fuss about nothing being reported in this thread!

I put my twin axle where I want it (on ground or on blocks) having arranged that a small sheet of plastic sheet is under the non-mover wheel. Align the lock going forward or back as required and fit it. Then use the mover to align the other wheel.  The locked wheel slides on the plastic. Job done!

I must find out what a double lock-and-level device would have cost me so I can calculate how many refreshing beers after setting up I have enjoyed "for free".

The only niggle with the whole concept is fitting and removing the yellow blanking plugs, but a short length of drain-pipe as mentioned above is the ideal tool.

These arent very easy and as others have said, you line it up and once take mover off, this will put pressure on the lock. I was looking for advice, but looks like others are experiencing same issues. 

I was looking at buying an addition clamp, but checking with my insurance (caravan sure) and they say you need to have the axle lock reciever as miniumum in addition to hitchlocks

Sounds like a good idea. i might try this
