Possibly not applicable if you're touring in the UK but Which magazine rated Aldi's sun cream as one of the best and we personally tested it in 30 to 40C temperatures in the last two week and it worked very well indeed - one of my daughters has come back very tanned with no sun burn on the way. It's priced at £2.80 for the same size as the Nivea which is £6.

And has the same blue colour bottle as Nivea!

Interesting Which says so!  I bought some a couple of years back partly because the tube was ok for flying and I loved it.

We have used ASDA own brand for our last 2 holidays and no burning as well.  My Sister mentioned that all teh supermarket brands are 5 * rated for UVA but when you look at Nivea, Ambre Solaire etc they are only 4 * so I think any brand would be OK and probably made in the same factory.

One thing with the ASDA one is the spray bottle seemed to be easier to rub in.

For years my girlfriend has used ordinary Nivea and always got a good tan and no problems.  This year she was influenced by all the hype and used lotions and potions of varying factor on different parts of her body. Result - blisters, pealing and burns.  So back to the Nivea hand creme.  Same resort, hotel and weeks as last two years so that was not a factor.

Me? I sit in the shade and get as good a tan without all the gunge.
