I would not think it as important if just using to fill your tank. As you say the problem arises when it is left connected. When we started with a service pitch several years ago, I just used a length of green garden hose. When this had been in the sun all day it gave a lovely plastic taste to the tea. I could even taste it through my coffee.😂 I suppose if you are not using it for making drinks / cooking it might not be an issue, unless there are other concerns regarding its use?

We've recently moved over to hoses that are flat when you store them (food grade quality).  We bought 3 lengths of 5 metres so that we could connect as many or as few as we need according to the site.  Much easier to store, but probably not the cheapest option.

I would only ever use a food quality hose, They are expensive I know but they are essential to avoid water contamination. Garden hoses are not "Food Quality".

We always use a water bottle for kettle or drinking as van pipework contains all sorts of gunge despite sterilisation. If you are away for a prolonged stay check the outside of your pump feed pipe it will feel slimy, any growth of bacteria or algae loves to stick to plastic pipework.

So the Aldi pipe would work for us.
