We are a bit shocked by insurance prices

Hello Everyone

Our Bailey Unicorn Cadiz went into production during the first week in January so we are very excited about picking it up sometime in February

we have just been check the cost of the insurance with the caravan club and it comes out at £51 per month.

I expect that is because we have never had a caravan and therefore haven't built up a no claims bonus - is that correct? Should we look somewhere else do you think?

thanking you in anticipation

What security devices have you listed as having.

Always worthwhile checking elsewhere for similar cover although I have always used the CC insurance after occasionally checking.

You do need to check you have applied all the available discounts. Such as wheel lock, secure storage storage, tracking if applicable, ATC and excess. We have a 3 year old Cadiz insured with the CC. Total price before discounts is supposed to be £901. There is only a £147 NCD, however after all the other discounts / add-ons for discount protection, monthly instalments etc the total is £326.

Hope that price is for a new for old basis.

I would certainly look about but make sure you are judging like for like

Agree shop around compare like for like.  If it is a new for old the insurer may also take into account Baileys price increases. Some started Dec 2016 others to follow – saw an article in CC Feb 2017 magazine.

There's no doubt that caravans are dear to insure because they are high risk items. MHs seem to be more reasonable when you take into consideration their price.

It's worth using security devices which bring a discount.

one thing to consider is that if you are unfortunate in having to make a claim how would they react in dealing with the claim, one this is that the CC service is excellent.

Shop around to get the best quote , the difference can be mind boggling £££££ , we are with Saga at the moment & they haven't been beaten on renewal for the last few years.

Our premium this year £200 + bits for £17500 new for old caravan (2014) & £1000 contents , our premiums didn't seem overly expensive when we first started .

Good luck.........😇

Edit..... Don't feel obligated to stay with your insurance provider in future either , if I have to change every year to get the best quote ........I do , that goes for car & home insurance as well.
