Water heater after winter

I'm literally brand new to caravaning and and I've only been away a couple of times prior to the winter.

With the winter coming to an end I'm lookin to get her going again. I have an old carva cascade water heater and the tank is empty to avoid any damage as normal.

Am I right in thinking that all I have to do is get water flowing via the pump, once the air is out and water flowing normally let it sit for a period, switch the water heater on and leave it for a period and then the water will be hot?

Please excuse the stupid question just wanted any help or tips as I'm new and it's our first caravan.

Your wise to have drained it down. Once you have free flowing water coming out of your hot tap, it should be ok to switch on the hot water heater.

Yes, but don't forget to check that the valve  you used to drain down the caravan is shut again!  My OH has a habit of leaving ours open, and then forgetting on the first fill through until he hears trickling underneath as the water comes out as quickly as it goes in!

When draining down do not forget the taps as drops of water can do expensive damage. Drain it with all taps open, mixer taps have to be in the midway position between hot and cold. I would do this on site and blow down them to clear any drops left. You can then drive home with the valve open so the last drops should come out.

start by drawing the hot water from the furthest distance away once you have done all you hot water taps do the same with the cold water tap

Where did you buy the caravan? If it was a dealer I'd get in contact with them pronto, and get them to fix the matter. If it was a private sale why not ask the seller why that's been done.

To fill the water heater you have to run cold water through the system by switching on your pump, after you've inserted it into your water container, and opening a tap on the hot water setting so clearing air from the system until water runs from the tap. You can then switch on your water heater.
