Hey everyone!

Myself and my partner Steve have just bought a Peugeot Broadway Autosleeper and want to travel to Scotland for December.

Does anyone know if there are vehicle ferries to the islands in December?

Any help would be gratefully received ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you

Google will know for sure!  It will tell you about Pentland ferries and Northlink ferries.

As Euro said for ferries to the islands. Plus Orkney Council run inter island ferries. You’ll find it all easily enough.

Of course there are ferries in winter, people live in Orkney and need transport to/from the mainland and between islands๐Ÿ˜€.

I'm not sure if sites in Orkney open in winter. Check out the Visit Orkney website and the CLs listed on this website.

The Pentland Firth can get very choppy, so be prepared for delays due to winter weather conditions. Friends on Orkney recommend the larger Scrabster ferry if your sea legs aren't too good. Northlink are well kitted out for longer journeys.

Forgot to add, to anyone contemplating this trip in winter that daylight hours are very short but one or two festivals can lighten things up a bit. wink

We don't mind it but Northlink are much more comfortable aren't they? smile

Absolutely. We always go for the upgrade to the Magnus Lounge and get 'free' coffee and snacks, plus a bacon roll on the morning crossing๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป.

Their cabins are very comfortable too for the night crossing to Shetland.

Unlike Pentland there’s no need to reverse on either.
