I am looking for a portable solar panel to keep the auxiliary battery charger on my motorhome when there is no electric hook up available. I have been doing google searches but there are so my out there I am looking for advice and recommendations as to what power output to get and what makes are worth buying.

Many thanks, Tim

Depends on factors like how much use your aux battery will get, will the panel be sited inside or outside your MH, how much space you’ve got to store it? etc.

I like the flexible panels which are more expensive but less bulky than conventional panels. Buy the biggest output you can afford and store. 30w would probably be minimum up to 100w for heavier use. If you’re charging behind glass/perspex you’ll lose about 50% of the panel’s efficiency. As far as brands are concerned, you’ll be ok if you purchase from an established specialist rather than bloke on eBay. You’ll also need a solar controller. I like Photonic Universe
