Good morning everyone.
My old Tom Tom has finally given up so I would like to get a sat nav geared towards Caravan touring.
Has anyone got any advice / preference whether Tom Tom Garmin or Avtex etc ?
Thank You for any guidance or recommendations.

Phil.

I googled it and it gave me a list of the previous 39 times that question has been asked on this forum - and skimming through the replies it seems to me there are no right or wrong answers - there are only opinions. Have a look and see what you think.

Much to be said for a system that you are familiar with which would tilt you in favour of the TomTom Camper.

Yes, thinking of the Tom Tom or maybe the Avtex tourer.
Thanks for your advice.

Whatever make you choose make sure you test it by putting in a destination that can be reached by suitable and importantly unsuitable routes if you're not satisfied with the route the satnav plans don't purchase or if you have send it back, Halford used to have satnavs on display that you can try.

I usually look for three things important to me from a sat nav:

1. Can you define vehicle weight and height and does this effect routing.

2. Can you define preferred roads and avoid ones you don't wish to use

3. Can you load your own POIs to be able to keep them up to date

If it cannot do any of the above I do not bother to check it out further.

I went for the C&MC/Avtex one as it is basically a Garmin , which I was used to having owned the make for many years. It also does the stuff as reply directly above and the added bonus is it uses the same mapping as viamichelin website.
