Reversing onto a pitch

Hi all.

My wife and I are new to caravaning. A few weeks ago we visited our first CL. The pitch allocated to us entailed reversing over a kerb and up a slope. I did not fancy giving my clutch 'a hard time' reversing up the kerb and fortunately I was able to make an approach from the top end due to a clear path to my pitch but I realise that I was fortunate due to lots of space. What should I have done if I did not have this option? All replies most welcome.
