Camper van newbie

My wife and I have had been caravanning for many years, but gave up about about 3 years due to age . I am now 80 years old , and I am thinking of buying  a small camper van, like a bilbo   lezan.

Am I too old to be thinking on these lines, has anyone else done this, at this age. We  would only be doing local trips in England.

I'd go for it, 19Gra40.  If you feel happy driving and fulfil the requirements for licence renewal, why not...  Apart from having a few days away on site, I know a few folk with smaller campervans who use them for days out.  To be able to pull up somewhere nice and just make yourself a fresh cuppa or even something to eat is a lovely idea.

My daughter and son-in-law have a Renault van which they have converted into a small camper.  They live in the Outer Hebrides, on Lewis, and often go out locally for days... usually to take the dogs to the beach....

Do let us know how you get on.  Your always welcome to join the Caravan & Motorhome Club.

Thankyou for information , David. yes if we do go for it, we will be joining  the club again. We really do miss our caravan days.

Agree with David, age is just a number, it’s how comfortable you feel, how active you are, how mobile. Perfect for comfy days out as well as overnight stays. 🙂

I will be very pleased to hear that you have joined the Club, 19Gra40, 'cos I do like to have plenty of 'old folks' around to keep the draughts away from me  wink . Just so you won't think you are very old, I'll let you into a secret if you promise not to tell anybody else  ~~ { I'm 9 months away from my 80th as well but it's just a number unless I'm trying to gain an edge on somebody innocent }

I will be an octogenarian at the end of this month and tow our Caravan. Sadly I am missing my wife, but as others are telling you 80 is just a number.As long as you feel up to it and everything legal is in place, just do it.

How lovely,

life circumstances made us give up caravanning but we moved on to a Motorhome.

You are never, never to old to do what you feel young enough to do 🤓. Just get something that is comfortable, I felt that was the most important thing.

Everything else will drop into place.

Artyboo only wondering about you the other day. Hope all going well.

Sorry for going off topic.

I'm in the lookout, half heartedly at the moment, for a small motorhome as our circumstances dramatically changed a couple of years ago. I totally agree go for it, youvecnothing to loose!
