Towing Check list

  • Check inside caravan.

Secure items and distribute weight correctly, heavy items over or forward of the axle. Retract Arial, open blinds close/lock side and roof windows. Lock door.

  • Check outside caravan.

Tyre pressure should be 37/2.6 psi/bar and tighten wheel bolts to 88Nm (Steel wheel) using hand wrench. Gas turned off at cylinder.

Check noseweight prior to hitching up. Max load 75kg (Towbar specified)

Make sure handbrake fully engaged and raise all corner steadies in preparation for hitching up

  • Hitching up

Reverse car into position with assistance. Lower the hitch onto the ball by winding down the jockey wheel in order to sit fully in the cup. Once coupled up check green button visible. Lower stabiliser pad leaver. Wind up jockey wheel and lock securely. Clip the breakaway cable. Handbrake can now be released. Connect electrics.

  • Fit towing Mirrors

Check position whilst sitting in the drivers seat. Make sure you can see down both sides of caravan.

  • Check road lights.

With assistance check lights, indicators, reverse and hazards.

                                               

Getting started.

Hook up to caravan then to mains. Turn fringe to electric. Under bed turn on the RCD and MCB switched (push white then blue pops down pull up again to turn on)

Turn on gas supply at mains and individual appliances. They are now ready to use.

Turn off all taps. Close yellow drain down valve next to the water heater unit under seating area. Fill water container.  Lower the submersible filter unit into barrel then push the hose coupling firmly into the exterior socket.

Connect the two waste water hoses. Locater at rear of the o/s wheel. Put the hose end into a suitable container. Turn on taps. Turn on pump switch. Allow air to escape until steady flow of water. Water is now pressurised. Turn on access leaver (pull anti clockwise until facing down) locater by water heater.  Remove exterior water heater cover. Turn water heater on using gas or electric supply.  Switch “water heater” for electric, no temp control.

Remove toilet cassette. Add a dose of green chemical treatment and 2L water via the spout.  To fill the flush tank open exterior access flap and pour in pink chemical mixed with water, top up.
