Our first caravan after 20 years of camping

Hi Folks, We are new members of the CC and new to caravanning. We have bought a Knaus Deseo Transport from Germany for our particular needs. We went out there to get it and now it's home we are a bit in love with it. The only downside is that the manual is in German. I had enough to do the transaction, but technical data is beyond me and what I'm wondering about particularly is the electrics...my husband thinks we will need to buy a generator but I wonder if a leisure battery will do the job. We will seldom be on sites where there are hook ups.
