We’ve just bought a Hymer BMC motorhome. The handbook says to empty the grey water, you turn a lever in the garage. We don’t have a lever in the garage, only a yellow cap and a button on the drivers door. We’ve tried pressing the button on the drivers door with the engine on and off but nothing comes out. Any ideas how we empty the grey water? Do we need to do something before pressing the button??

The switch nearest us on top of the door is identical to my Hymer waste valve switch. In fact in the picture it looks to me that the valve is open as the rocker switch is down at the rear. The red light illuminates in this position indicating that the valve is open.

To press this switch requires 2 movements. Engine off first. At the front of the switch is a slide (with dimples for grip). This should be pushed forward or pulled back, I can’t quite remember, to release the switch which then presses down at the rear. The light illuminates and the valve opens. To close requires the same operation in reverse.
