I’d not contemplate the smaller 136, personally, as I know I’d regret it’s lack of power. In terms of MPG, I doubt the 2.0 185 will be any thirstier as the smaller engine version will need to work harder and change gear more often.
Actually, I’d go for the Sorento…π€·π»βοΈ

Posted on 07/11/2021 18:26 by ScreenName60FFC29571Howdy. Thinking on buying Kia Sportage for towing Bailey Pegasus 1450 MTPLM any advise/experience on 1.6 diesel 136 bhp - enough power or any views on 2.0 diesel 185bhp plenty of power but economy might be worry !
Any advise/ experience welcome

I have just bought the 136bhp mild hybrid diesel 2021 AWD auto towing a 1500 kg Coachman Vision. Having towed with. 170 bop Mercedes C class I was a bit cautious on bhp drop. The sportage is lovely, plenty of power , even on hills. Sometimes forget the caravan is on the back. Sport mode is good at roundabouts to stop lag. So smooth and comfortable and stable. Thoroughly recommend it, and I am getting 30 mpg towing. Bought a seven year service plan that equals one Mercedes’ main dealer service

Different rig but I had a 136BHP 2009 Euro 4 Kuga, albeit 2L towing 1350Kg. An additional 100Kg wouldn't make much difference, it's air drag that really affects performance. More modern engines give a much improved "bag for your buck". How much of a hurry are you in?
