Is a twin axle too big?

We have finally made the decision to move to a caravan from our motorhome!

I am going to see a man about a car today - LR Discovery as Im told its the best for towing.

We have looked at a few caravans and so far the ones that seem closet to our motorhome are twin axles around the 8m length incl draw bar.  We thought that we were doing well then a friend told us that twin axles were too big and that many main sites both Caravan Club and C&CC wont accept them as they are too big.   We mainly stay at CL's but were told by our friend that in many cases they are too big there as well!   

Thinking back to the last few CL's we have stayed on I dont rember thinking that they wouldnt fit (our MH is 7.5m long).

What are the experiences of fellow members are twin axles too big?  Are there lots of sites that wont accept them both CL and main sites, does this apply to CC&C as well?

I plant to order the car in the next day or so, so I need to make sure I am not making the wrong decision!!
