we have just come back from a weekend in bridlinton our first time on a cc site, the site was clean and tidy shower block was clean, loverly site. we decided to buy a years worth of wifi as we have other weekends booked over the year thinking it would be cheaper to do so, we thought that all three of use would be able to use the internet at the same time but no only one person at a time, so this would mean  £75 per year or £7.50 per 24 hours, this is a right rip of sureley it should be per van and not per person.

I don't use the club's Wifi, but agree that it should be you & not the phone/tablet/etc that has access. Is it possible to use a phone as a Wifi hotspot? Undecided

Its per appliance, which when you consider the cost you are paying at home is in my opinion very good value, and just think how overloaded the bandwidth would be,as there are some people who already abuse the what is on offer as per the wifi guidelines by streaming loads of things it is not designed forUndecided

We tend to use other forms of access, mifi or tethering but I sometimes use the CC wi-fi for free access to the CC website.

I don't bother with the clubs wifi as we are irregular visitors so we just tether as I have contract with free calls, texts and internet.  Worked really well at Brighton last week

One commercial site we stayed on wanted £10 for the week and it was device specific. At least with the CC you can log out with one device and log in on another. Being realistic if you were able to attach as many devices as you wanted and were with a group of friends, perhaps 8 to 10 devices could be attached for the one fee. Not very good from the CC's point of view.

Basically it is a service. You have to decide if you want internet access and if so if you are willing to pay the price. Have to say I never thought it was for more than one receiver at once but not sure if there is anything to say either way.

I have an iboost which searches out wifi spots from quite a distance away, although I don't use it very much, I am sure it can turn your motorhome into a wifi hotspot which means you can use more than one device at a time. Of course, CC wifi might stop this. Worth looking around the campsite to see if anyone has an iboost on the van, have a chat to them, they might let you log on, sometimes it may not be password protected and would  show on a wifi search but of course I maybe wrong.

Why can't it be free?  When I travel abroad 95% of sites provide free wi-fi, albeit some are only in the vicinity of the bar..but that's good business sense if you think about it.

Why can't it be free? Because someone has to pay for it. Nothing is 'free'. It either gets added to and included in everyone's pitch fee or those who want it pay the asking price. We are talking about CC sites here, not those abroad, and not commercial sites with bars. Good business sense? I doubt it very much for CC. I don't want to see my membership fee or pitch fees being used to subsidise a second class wifi service.

IMO the £25 charge is reasonable value, if you are visiting quite a few sites as we do. The service is variable, depending on site location / available bandwidth. However, we have rarely not been able to use the service for emails and general browsing. The main advantage of the service is on sites remote from 3G coverage. The one thing I find somewhat annoying, is that folk can use up band width on the club site and CT without paying. Thus reducing that available to those who have subscribed.
