Greetings! Very much the new boy (well "boy" is stretching it). There is a crack in the floor of my front outside locker where the gas bottles and other items are stored. I wondered if any more experienced members had any tips on how to repair it. I was wondering about getting a glass fibre repair kit and using that?  All suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

A lot might depend on the nature of construction of the floor of the locker. On my old van, it was a sheet of ply separate from the sandwich floor of the van itself.

The ones that I have seen are either ply or moulded plastic shaped to accept bottles. Not seen any in fibreglass though

Any chance you can post a pic of the floor of the front locker, afraid mine is a ply floor also.

Or is this an older caravan with a separate locker box on the front of the A frame?

My previous lunar clubman had a plastic floor. Present clubman is plywood.

If plastic the best solution might be to source one from a dealer, trim if needed, lay over the existing and rivet both together. How old is the caravan has the plastic gone brittle?

Gerry Mc

Go for it, had same problem with gas locker on my Bailey Senator done what you thinking, roughed up the plastic with a wire brush, thoroughly cleaned the area then covered it with adhesive and fibreglass from an Isopon kit (be careful of the fumes) When I sold caravan (best part of a year later) it was still holding strong.

Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated. Think I'll start with the fibreglass repair route first.
