Folding chair that's good for eating and lounging

New to discussion threads and the search facility doen't make it easy to see if this topic has been raised before, but here goes....

First, let me make it clear that I don't intend to eat the chair: I wanted a short title for this thread. We're gathering the equipment together for easy touring and find that the folding chairs we have are fine for relaxing but too low for sitting at a table to eat. Our table is 70cm high. We'd rather not carry 2 lots of chairs around with us - surely someone makes a reclining chair that's high enough to use for eating but still comfortable to lean back and relax in? We don't need leg rests, just a chair that's dual purpose. Any advice?

Hi there,

We have two of these and bought the separate footrests for them. We think they're great for both lounging and using at the table as dining chairs.  They're Quest brand.

We bought ours from Todd's at Lostock Hall, Preston, and I was cheeky and asked for a discount on the purchase of two and they were happy to oblige.

We use a pair similar to Jills tjhat we use to eat from but the footrest is attached and they will lay horizontal (only when the sun comes out!) We also have a pair of chairs that fold into a nylon bag for easy carriage eg. to the beach!

I would advise sitting on anything you think might work - I have a neck issue and some of them have very uncomfortable headrests.  I currently like mine which came from Outback in a sale last year - it hits all my spots but do try them out.  Go Outdoors has quite a selection available to try.

I have a couple of Isabella reclining chairs with detachable footrests. Very comfy and the perfect height for the table.

We have used a set of Crespo chairs and table with adjustable legs for years.

They are high quality, and that is reflected in the price, and lightweight but, having seen others that friends use, would not change them for another brand.

We got them in Holland, at Obelink, around 20 years ago and they are still in great condition. Obelink has a UK website so you could check prices there. I was looking for a cheaper option but my wife wanted these and I do not regret buying them as they have been worth every penny-or Euro!

We have similar chairs to the ones in the picture but use a table with adjustable leg height. This is also useful when the ground is a little uneven or sloped.
